Quiet Path

Tokyo, February 2019, from a chilly winter afternoon, a quiet moment next to a temple. I loved the intimacy and still-ness of the scene. Living in Tokyo was such a fantastic experience, the place is unique, and the food incredible, especially the beef! But it can also be lonely as a foreigner, or ‘ Gaijin’ as we are called. The Japanese are quite shy people, and sometimes you can go for weeks without a human interaction apart from your work colleagues. But the foreigners seem to nod/wink at each other knowingly in passing. Or maybe that was just me.

Private collection.
