Winter Thaw

I went for a walk around the outskirts of Tokyo, but it was too cold to paint, so I did some sketches and created a piece from memory at home. It was over the top of terrible painting I’d attempted earlier. But the disaster painting somehow informed the top layer and it came together really quickly. When I feel painting is easy, its usually an ominous sign, as the painting is nearly always bad. But in the morning it still looked good, so I left it.

Oil on board, 8x11. Enquire or details.
