Something which started with one thing and ended with something else. I scrape a lot of my work, re-state, re-scrape. The back and forth adds a history and patina to the piece, and I love the feeling of rough, textured surface. Knowing when to stop is the hardest part. Picasso once said, “Many can start a painting but only an Artist knows when to stop”, or something like that. He also said, “Every time I change wives I should burn the last one.”
